Chess

At the start of the day we played chess.  I faced Katie M and Katura. I lost against Katie, and then I challenged Katura and won! I went up three spaces on the leaderboard. After lunch I played against Nathan who is on the top of the leader board.  I lost hardout. Today was the last day to get in the teams for the chess tournament.  I was gutted because I did not get in the top 6 who were going to be on the chess teams.

You were so engaged during your “passion time” last week - working on a lego animation!  You learned some valuable skills, which will help you to continue with this task next time.  You worked patiently through the Keynote task last week.  Keynote is a fantastic presentation tool - it was great to see you grasp the build in, build out and transition effects so easily.  Keep up the great work Max.  Katie.

Passion Time:

Today for our passion time, I chose pottery.  First, we watched a You Tube lesson about how to make a coil pot.  Next we go our area set up.  I got a board, and put a little bit of water on it.  I had to throw my big slab of clay down on the board until all the clay was flat, and there was no air bubbles in it.  I rolled my clay out with a rolling pin.  We used a round plastic container to help make a round shape for the bottom of our pot.  Next, I had to roll out heaps of snakes to use as the walls of my coil pot.  I had fun and at the end we got to make patterns on the very top snake.
