Canstruction

Today at Enrich we did some Canstruction. Canstruction is when you get a lot of cans of food and you put them together to make for example a kiwi.

We put all of our ideas of what to build on a large piece of paper.  Some of our ideas were Elmo, M & M people, a smurf, cookie monster and angry birds.  Together our group decided we would make M & M people!

Hi Max,

You have had a great day this week! I was really impressed with the ideas you contributed during debating.  You had carefully considered the perspectives of different groups of people which is not always easy.  I hope you are ready to rock during maths talent development...Canstruction is going to be a big challenge!

See you next week

Mixing Colours

After lunch we had to do our Picks. My favourite one was mixing colours. You had to get the primary colours - blue, yellow and red. With these colours, you had to mix them to make secondary colours. They were green, orange and purple. After that, we had to mix the colours again to make tertiary colours. The tertiary colours were light orange, light purple and light green. It was fun mixing the paint, but it did take a long time to get the colours right. I didn't get them exactly the same as the colour sheet, but at least now I know how to mix colours properly.

Chess

Today I learnt about pins and skewers in a chess game.  Pins are when a piece cannot move, because it will put it's King in check if it does.  Skewers are when you move half way around the King to prevent getting in check.  After the workshop I played against Callum.  We didn't get time to finish our game, so I might challenge him next week!
